Frank A. Ewert has been Scientific Director of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) in Müncheberg since 2016 and Professor of Crop Science at the University of Bonn, Germany, since 2008. Between 1994 and 2008 he worked in different research positions in the United Kingdom (AFRC, University of Bristol), Denmark (Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University / Kopenhagen University) and The Netherlands (Wageningen UR). His initial training is in agronomy and crop science for which he obtained his MSc and PhD. An important focus of his research over the last decades has been on the development and use of crop models for various applications mainly related to climate change impacts, food security and sustainable intensification. More recently he has also worked on integrated assessment modelling and on scaling issues of crop models from field to farm, landscape, national and global scale. Frank Ewert is member of Editorial Boards of several scientific journals. He is Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European JPI-FACCE (The Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change) and co-leads the Expert Working Group on Plant and Crop Modelling of the Wheat Initiative. Frank has been actively involved in (co-)leading different working groups and themes in MACSUR (Modelling European Agriculture with Climate Change for Food Security) and AgMIP (Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project.
