It is the joint objective of the Research Unit,

• to investigate the effects of global climate change on structure and functions of agricultural landscapes on a regional scale and
• to work out projections for their development until 2030 taking into consideration various possible socio-economic conditions and adaptation processes.

In order to achieve these objectives, regional climate models are coupled with land surface and crop models as well as with multi agent systems in a new integrated land-system model system, and structure and parameterisation of various model components are optimised. Field measurements and controlled experiments serve to improve model components and their parameterisation and to validate the individual models and the coupled model system.
