Phenology, Growth and Yield

In both study regions, Kraichgau and Central Swabian Alb, phenological and growth data of crops cultivated on the three experimental fields are being continuously assessed during the growing season. Measurements include the determination of the phenological growth stage according to the so-called BBCH code, the canopy height, the leaf area index as well as foliar chlorophyll concentrations or green values of canopies. At defined developmental stages, partial harvests of aboveground biomass, separated into leaves and shoots, is performed on specific plots. At complete maturity, plots are completely harvested and various yield variables determined. The carbon/nitrogen ratio of grains serves as proxy data of yield quality.

This data assessed on experimental fields serve for parameterisation of crop growth models and multi-agent systems.
